Sources & Calculation Methodology
Metrik MFG is designed to make manufacturing calculations and engineering references transparent enough to check.
Formulas and methods
Calculation pages identify the principal formula or method used and explain the inputs, units, assumptions, and practical limitations where relevant. We favor standard engineering relationships and technically credible references rather than hidden or unexplained outputs.
Source hierarchy
When available, we prioritize standards organizations, original manufacturer documentation, established engineering references, material or tooling data, and other primary technical sources. Secondary sources may be used for context but should not override authoritative application data.
Starting values are not universal recommendations
Machining speeds, feeds, material properties, K-factors, efficiencies, costs, and similar values can vary substantially. General database values are starting references only. For production use, verify against the exact material, tool, machine, supplier, process, and applicable standard.
Units and rounding
Tools may convert between unit systems and round displayed results for readability. When tolerances or downstream calculations are sensitive, use appropriate precision and verify the underlying units.
Validation and corrections
We test calculator behavior and representative cases, but no general-purpose tool can account for every real-world condition. If you identify a technical issue, use the Contact page and include the page, inputs, expected result, and supporting reference when possible.
Independent verification
Users should independently verify critical outputs before production or safety-sensitive use. See the Engineering & Technical Disclaimer for additional limitations.
