Theoretical milling surface roughness depends strongly on feed per tooth and cutter geometry. Reducing feed per tooth generally reduces the geometric cusp height, while a larger cutter can also change the theoretical result.
The calculation is only a geometry estimate. Tool runout, vibration, tool wear, material behavior, machine condition, and toolpath strategy can dominate the measured finish in real work.
